Hospitality Confidential is excited to present this Event Sales Manager role in Santa Monica, CA! Our client is an independent luxury hotel with a large selection of banquet rooms and event spaces that accommodate up to 100 guests. This role will be sales focused and responsible for bringing in new event sales and partnerships and then connecting them to the all-star in-house events team. Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain an appropriate balance of account maintenance, prospecting for new business, and building profitable relationships with clients.
- Produce marketing plan and assist in developing the annual sales budget with the restaurant team. Implement a monthly action plan to meet and exceed the budgeted sales goals.
- Prospecting, outside sales calls, and networking events are essential to meet goals and budgets.
- Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual production reports; as well as weekly and monthly sales activity reports.
- Assist other departments in developing specific goals and strategies in assigned territory to positively impact revenues.
- Must have detailed knowledge of property, space, capacities, concept, and food style (menus). Review and update menus, packages, and upgrades as requested to satisfy client needs and to maximize revenue.
- Communicate a clear sense of strategic direction and goals for the markets.
- Maintains accurate and detailed notes and traces in accounts for clients.
- Join and attend appropriate market organizations.
- Supervise the execution of banquets on occasion including welcoming clients to the restaurant with proper hand-off to the operations team.
- Create menus for events, print and proof with the chef as needed.
- Attend weekly BEO and Events meetings on property with Department Heads.
- Expertise of the restaurant's overall layout, rate structure, and capacities.
- Perform general office duties to support Sales & Marketing efforts.
- Serve as the point of contact for clients and communicate with them by phone and email to respond to questions and requests.
- Prepare sales-related documents throughout the sales process (e.g., proposals, contracts, or banquet event orders).
- Promote awareness of brand image internally and externally.
- Use sales techniques that maximize revenue while maintaining existing guest loyalty to the brand. Enter, retrieve, reconcile, and verify information (e.g., commissions, leads, third parties) in software involved in the sales process.
- Answer guest questions about property facilities/services (e.g., hours of operation, rates and room types, packages, promotions, entertainment, restaurants, special events).
- Work as part of a team and communicate with other departments as per hotel procedures to ensure excellent quality and service.
- Responds to inquiries and refers guest/clients to the appropriate Managers as necessary; ensures timely follow-up.
- Facilitates tasks or requests as asked by guests.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of hospitality experience, ideally within a restaurant or related banquet setting.
- Demonstrated ability to attract new business and build partnerships.
- Previously structured outside sales and events experience.
- Highly creative, with strong sales and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills both internally and externally.
- Professional phone etiquette, writing skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $80K - $90K base salary
- 4% commission on outbound F&B sales
