Hospitality Confidential is thrilled to present an exciting new Bar Manager role in Palo Alto, CA! This culinary gem in the San Francisco Bay peninsula offers chef-driven and seasonal pizzas and pastas. This restaurant is part of a James-Beard awarded restaurant group that bridges the gap between upscale and casual dining - offering the highest quality ingredients in a casual and welcoming environment. This position manages the entire beverage program and will report directly to the General Manager. A stand-out candidate will have experience running an expertly curated beverage program and will be an empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and collaborative leader!
Responsibilities:
- Bar Specific Duties:
- Beverage ordering (wine/spirits/na bev/co2/glassware/garnishes)
- Be the direct contact with vendors and the wine point
- Beverage training and education (lineup/guest speakers/engaging exercises)
- Training and development of bar team members
- Implement and uphold beverage operations (side work/policies/best practices/problem solving/troubleshooting)
- Oversee practices (proper beverage preparation/maintaining consistency in procedures)
- Monthly bar inventory and price updates
- Collaborate on additions to the menu and updates based on seasonality with oversight from GM and Leadership Team
- Keep updated recipes and costing for each item
- Use the bar mission statement as a guide to lead the bar program
- Management Duties:
- Open/Close the restaurant using management checklists
- Coach and train hourly staff
- Responsible for cash handling
- Assist in hiring, firing and discipline
- Uphold service standards on the floor and behind the bar
- Participate in weekly manager meetings
- Participate in management trainings
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a Bar Manager role with floor management responsibilities
- Exposure to restaurant and bar profit and loss with drink costing experience
- Excited to develop a bar and beverage program that aligns with the existing company brand
- Strong, mature, respectful leader with passion, energy, drive, and integrity - a team player with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate (verbally and written) in a clear, concise, and through manner
- ServSafe Certified
Nice to Have:
- Basic to Intermediate level knowledge of wine
Compensation & Benefits
- $80K - $85K base salary
